Reset WD traps from 1530-1700h. Due to the weather, I covered all traps with boards and made extra sure all traps had bait and nest material. The temps surged: high 52°, low 37°. Reset drift fence traps by 1800h (trapped in dark). Rounded this evening lightly. Feb 2. 0700h - Got checking traps on MC, it's clean, temp 30s. Much of the rain from last night is frozen on the vegetation. Started checking traps on RC by 0730h. 14/33 success on west fence, and 8/33 on the east. Started checking traps on WD by 0830h. After checking all traps I picked up all WD traps and then killed a new P.c.. (#1409) at the truck. Released him in good shape and returned to the lab - lay down to spin blood and prepare a force mortality. Busy morning! From 1530-1700h I set RC drift fence traps, most (~26 stations) of the quad stations with non-bolding Sherman's, and 2 transects (5 stations, ~2 traps/pen) between the quad and each drift fence. I'll be checking these traps the next 2-3 days.
