Von Behren, Julie 1989 Journal Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Ca. June 18 to the RC drift fences, checking the east one, then the west one. I left RC at about 0830h and went to the barn. I checked the cages for life, food, and water. I took the 3 smears of the females, put the females into folding Sherman traps, and then went to the lab to look at the slides. After stopping back at the cabin I went to the barn to clean the cages of the 3 females. I also cleaned the large wooden box containing cages 3 and 4 (see species accounts). I cleaned the food dishes and got rid of the old bedding material. I rechecked all the cages again. I weighed the 3 females and the mice of cages 3 and 4 as well. I finished up around 1200h. For about ½ hour this afternoon around 1530h, I finished up with the freezer organization. At 1700h I checked the mice in the barn again and all of them seemed all right. At 1715h I went to the RC drift fences. At about 1800h I was walking to the MC drift fences. I set both fences then I set 40 traps in the area between the west wall and the grid, finishing around 1910h.
