Von Behren, Julie 1984 Journal Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Ca. June 15 The rattlesnake was gone. Of course, that was just as nerve racking for me because I didn't know where it was so every step I took I was very careful to look where I stepped. I went next to set the 38 extra traps again. I haven't been successful but I am trying it one more night. The traps are not set in the creek bed because I tried to avoid the very dense Poison Oak in this area, but maybe thats the area the P.californicus are at. more After setting these traps I set the west fence traps with extremely cautious steps, always! I drove back to the cabin, went to set the MC fences, finishing around 1900 h. June 16 I left the cabin at about 0600h. The temp was 52F and the sky was clear again today. I checked the MC drift fence traps first. Next, at about 0645h I went over to the RC drift fences. After checking the east fence I checked the 38 extra traps but again, no P. californicus. I collected the traps, put them in the 2 boxes, and put them in the car. Next I went to the west fence and
