Von Behren, Julie 1989 Journal Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. June 12 to check the MC Grid drift fences first. At about 0700h I drove over to the RC Grid drift fences. The fog was already clearing. I finished these 2 fences at 0830h. I drove to the barn, checked the cages, and took the 3 smears. At about 0930h I looked at the slides in the lab. I also put the soxex alcoholic specimens into a jar of water to soak. I also stopped in at the office to get a "Research" sign for my car. From about 1130 - 1400h I did some data entry on the computer. At about 1630h I went to the barn to get more oats and to get some extra traps. From there, I went to the RC drift fences. I set the east fence first. Then I set 20 traps along the north side of the creek between the fence and the grid. After these traps were set I set the west fence traps. At about 1750h I left RC grid and drove back to the cabin. I went to set the MC grid fences. At RC grid the extra traps I set I made into 10 "stations", 2 traps at each. The 2 traps were about 1 meter apart, about 10 m between stations. June 13 At 0610h I left the cabin to go to the MC drift fences. The sky was clear (no fog today) and the temp. was 48°F. I checked the MC fences until about 0650h and then I walked to my car. I arrived
