RIBBLE, D.O. 1984 Journal 7 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Jan 13 (cont) 2130h-out checking traps on RC with Cristian & Eric. It's drugging, mid 40s. Good results considering weather conditions. Needed home by 2300h. Jan 14 0700h-out checking traps on MC drift fence traps. It's clear and cold (low 30s) - light frost. Staked checking traps on RC by 0745h (by myself-Cristian & Eric left after MC traps). Pickedupor cleaned out all traps as I checked them. Finished by 1900h and returned with a new P.californicus (#1478). Summary of results on RC- P.californicus P.boylii N.fuscipes Perognathus TOTAL 13(Fri) 5 13 4 2 24 14(Sat) 15 14(new) 6(new) 3 36 (new) Sun 15 20 8 4 47 ind Melanie arrived this am and we took it easy most of the day. I blew #1478 after lunch and released him in good shape this PM as I reset RC & MC drift fence traps (16-1700h). Today was clear, low 50s. Jan 15 0730-out checking drift fence traps. Clear, cold (upper 20s), heavy frost. Opened up all traps leaving passageways OPEN, and covered up all pit fall cans. Checked RC drift fence traps from 0800-0900, left traps as on MC drift fences. Melanie & I will leave tomorrow for Berkeley, but I won't be trapping tonight.
