July 26 (cont)
Reset all MC traps this afternoon, including woodpile traps,
from 18-1900h. Since RC drift traps are once again saturated,
it won't set them for the next 2 days. Today was much
cooler - low in the 50's.
Since this is Julie's last night (time flies!!), we are having
a special dinner and we won't clock traps
July 27
0600h - out checking traps on MC (with a lantern) - Clear and calm. Moon is
1/4 full and overhead. Good results for last trap occasion. Picked up
all folding Sherman's and opened up all non-folding Sherman's.
No RC captured at woodpile. Summary of GRID results:
Platformay - 110pts
P.bofii - 12'
P.tuni - 2'
Peregrinus - 7"
N.fuscipes - 2"
total 34 captures
Spent the rest of the day washing clothes, etc (and resting!) Today
What we set and baited all traps on GRID WR from 1030-1730h (albeit
early so Julie will be ready to leave when her dad comes) and MC
drift fence traps finished by 1900h. Today was warmer (low 90's)
than previous few days. Julie took off this evening - worked out
well!
2220h-out checking traps on WR. Clear, no moon, low 60's. A lot
of mice this AM. Toe-clipped all RC (see spreads for #'s). Finished
by 2340h and headed home.
July 29
0600h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. Clear, low 50's.
Started checking traps on GRID WRZ by 0700h. Again, a lot
of captures. Finished by 0900h and then bled new RC (1480a)
at truck. Released him in good shape by 0930h and returned
to lab.
