RIBB, D.D 1989 Journal 80 Hasting Reservation, Mountany Co, Calif July 3 0530h - out checking traps on MC drift fences. Clear, low SO's. Started checking RC drift fences by obish. Ridiculous number of animals (47 total!), didn't finish until 0745h and proceeded to check GRZ WZ. Clot of mice, again - Finished by 0915h and returned to lab to take vaginal swears. Summary of results on WZ- Peromyscus - 13 captures P. truei - 18 " N. fuscipes - 23 " P. boylii - 1 " Microtus - 1 new Perognathus - 5 TOTAL 61 captures. Today was sunny and warm (low 80's). Spent the rest of the day washing clothes, etc in prep to leave tomorrow. From 110-1700h we finished up the rest of the habitat work on GRZ DMC (rows 5) and then reset MC drift fences. We proceeded to RC and opened up all traps leaving passageways open. Next we reset all WZ traps from 18-1900h - I also returned the radio collar from #175 by retrieving her from her nest! (see spread). July 4 *Independence Day* 0530h - Clear, calm, low SO's. Out checking traps on MC drift fences. Opened up all traps and left passageways open. Proceeded to check traps on GRZ WZ by obish. Opened up all non-folding Sherman traps and picked up all folding trap. Finished by 0800h. Summary of results: P. Californicus - 11 captures good finish! We packed up all equipment and departed for Bequbely around 0900h P. truei - 2 new (used) P. boylii - 3 " N.fuscipes - 20 " Perognathus - 6 "(2new) Microtus - 1 " TOTAL - 70 captures
