ZIBBLE, D.D. 1989 Journal 760 Hasting Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. June 27 (cont) Julie took vaginal smears on the females before 1100h. Today was clear and cool (high 70's) - very nice weather. This afternoon we finally initiated habitat measurements on GRID MC. From 15-1800h we did all stations on rows 6 and 7 (total 25 stations). We used all MC traps from 18-1945h, and RC drift fence traps by 1900h. Fog rolled in again this evening prior to sunset. 2200h-out on GRID MC checking traps. Clear, calm, low 60's. Good results this PM. Finished by 2255h. June 28 0600h-out checking traps on MC - Foggy, upper 50's. Plots of animals this am. The fog turned into a light drizzle shortly after we started. Finished by 0830h and proceeded to check RC drift fences. Finished by 0915h and returned to lab to prepare montalukas and take vaginal smears. Summary of results on MC: P. californicus 8 14 15 P. boydii 5 14(new) 16 P. huei 1. 4 4 Perognathus 1 5(new) 6 N. fuscipes 1(not) 5 6 TOTAL 16 42 47 Spent the rest of the am showing Julie how to prepare a study skin. It stayed overcast and cool until about noon when skies cleared, high in 70's. In the afternoon we cleaned all cages. Caught all MC traps from 10-1700h and RC drift fence traps by 1755h. - We're both exhausted, so we decided to not check traps tonight. June 29 0600h-out checking traps on MC. Mostly clear, low 50's. Good results this am. Finished by 0730h and proceeded to check traps on RC drift fences. Finished by 0830h, changed paper on WZ hygrotelligraphs, and returned to lab to prepare radio-collars and take vaginal smears.
