RBBB, DO 1989 Journals - 65 Hasting Reservation, Monkey Co., Calif. May 22 (cont) We took it easy in the afternoon. Wendy Roberts arrived this afternoon to help out. We all reset our transects this afternoon from 1030-1400h. Most stations were moved 10m away from drift fences, unless traps were set every 10m or habitat was poor. Also, Francis and Dan added ~8 more traps to their transect when they caught new Pc that they didn't collect the tail tip. Claudia and I added 10 more stations (20 traps) at stations 4-44, leaving odd numbers 3-43 when they were thus, 400+ traps set tonight (Warren left this pm) May 23 0630h - out checking traps on transects. Drizzling, overcast, low 40s = generally unsuitable !! It continued to drizzle, even raining at times, until about 1000h. Conditions prevented reasonable weights from being taken and @ Claudia & I just examining N-Pescapes if they weren't marked. I know data collection suffered.. Finished around 1030h along RC - Wendy & Bill finished around noon - [illegible] then didn't collect new Pc tails thus Everyone food off by 130[illegible] 1400h, leaving me with 400 wet, dirty traps! Anyway, results this year weren't as good as last years mostly due to delayed breeding this year (not as many natal dispersers from grids out then). I'm glad we did it, if nothing else it was fun to have people around. [It was clear, sunny by noon] Spent rest of the afternoon cleaning up the cabin, etc. Reset all RC drift fence traps from 18-1830h, and MC drift fence traps by 1900h. Also set traps at 7,4; 8,4; ~7-5,2,5; and ~8-5,1 for F# # 0100. Won't check traps until am.
