Had a flat tire this am which I changed before starting on RC drift fences, 07:30h. ♀1183 was gone from her cage and mobabies were left behind - seems to have worked!. Caught a new PC (1551), ♂, lactating which I bled at the truck and then released immediately. Actually started checking traps on WR by 0845h, opened up all folding Sherman's as I checked traps, and picked up all folding Shermans on return. Caught a new PC (1553) which I later bled at the truck and immediately released. ♀1429 also left her cage and no babies found - another success. Returned to lab by 1100h to spin blood and take vaginal smears of lab females. Quite the morning!! Summary of results on WR- P.californicus 14 16(new) 20 P. huei 11 15 18 N. leucopus 11 3 (new) 14 P. boylii 2 2 4 Perognathus 1 3(new) 3 TOTAL 39 39(3new) 57 [Traps closed] Note the # of PC caught on RC east off! Also, need to add more traps! Spent the afternoon working on data... Today was sunny and warm (upper 70s). Reset only RC & MC drift fence traps from 18-2430h. Added 3 more traps to the RC east fence and 2 National traps to RC west fence. No traps to check this Pm! May 2 0900h - out checking traps on WC. Clear, low 50s. Caught a new PC which I returned to lab. Started checking RC by 07:005h. Caught a S.beechi on RC west - released it untagged. Lots of mice! Finished by 1651h and returned to lab to take vaginal smears and collect tissues from new PC.
