RBBB, DO 1984 53 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif April 29 (cont) Rest RC & MC traps from 1530-1630h and then had dinner at Walt & Jamie's place on Jessaya Road. * Added Smoor traps each to RC west & east drift fences. Tonight dumped out - I feel terrible and need some sleep, so we'll go out earlier in am. April 30 0600h - out checking traps on GRID WR. Moon is <1/4 full in eastern sky, partly cloudy, low 50's. More traps closed this am (expected), but overall good results. Bled new Pp (#1549) in field and released her (see app acct). Started checking traps on RC drift fences by 0800h. Most traps on north end of west fence closed who mouse - result of early trap setting. Finished MC drift fences by 0910h. Spent rest of am taking vag. smears and collecting pup tail-tips (see app acct) Summary of results on WR - P.californicus - 16 captures (new) P.huei - 16 " N.fuscipes - 10 " P.bayii - 4 " (new) Perognathus - 3 " Micrillus - 1 " (new) TOTAL 50 captures (3 new) (1st on GRID WR!) It remained partly cloudy and cool all day - rain threatened but never quite made it. Rest all WR traps from 1730-1815h. Put #91429, #781400 in cage in shrubs 2m south of station 3,3. Put rocks and piece of tan paper over top. Rest RC & MC drift fence traps by 1915h. Put #91183, #78040 in cage at Weetoma midden 10m east of E-12; covered with rocks and tan paper. 2200h - out checking traps on WR. Clear, calm, low 50's. Good results. Set up release of #91420, #71480 after finishing, 2315h. On way back, set up release of #91183-#7040 on GRID RC (see app acct).
