Dibble D.O. 1984 Journal 50 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif April 18 (cont) Spent the rest of the am and early pm cleaning mouse cages... Today was warm (low 80s) with scattered high clouds - Reset all RC traps from 17-1830, and MC drift fence traps by 1900h. Decided to forgo checking traps tonight, but go out earlier tomorrow. Moon is almost full and very bright. April 19 0500h - out checking traps on 1620 RC - it's clear, low 50s, moon is just setting in the west. Closed all traps, picked up folding Shermans, and left all drift fence passageways open. Finished checking all traps on RC by 0730h and all drift fence traps on MC by 0830h. Returned to the lab with a new Pc (#1537) from MC to collect tissues. Summary of results on RC: Peromyscus - 10 captures P. boylii - 9 " N.uscipes - 7 " Perospethus 5 " Microtus 2 " TOTAL 33 captures Released #1537 at its capture pt in good shape by 0930h. Packed up and left for Berkeley by 1130h. April 20 Arrived back at Hastings today around 1500h. Skies are partly cloudy, cool (upper 60s), looks like Hastings got a good rain during my absence - Great! The tops of the hills are brown, but the valleys are still green and lush. All trees appear fully leafed out. Brought down 143 non-folding Sherman traps from MUZ today (already have 192 in use). From 16-1800h I set out 84 of these new traps on 1620 MUZ, plus 40 folding Shermans, and baited & set all traps including 14 Neotoma
