RIBBLE, D.O. 1989 Journal 44 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif April 17 0630th - out checking traps on MC. Foggy, low 50's. Started checking traps on RC by 0700th. Good PC results and saw 2 sperm plugs in P. boylii . Finished by 0900th , skies beginning to clear. Summary of results on RC: Realifornicus (PC) 6, (#) 10, #ind 11 P. boylii 10, 15(new) 18 N. furcipes 4, 4, 8 Perognathus 2, 2, 4 Microtus 1, 0, 1 Total 23 31 (new) 42 total Today was sunny and warm (~80oF). Spent most of the day working on data analysis for my upcoming mamal group seminar. Set out to reset traps at 1700th when Dan Slate appeared! He went out with me and we reset RC traps from 1730 - 1845th together. I reset MC drift fence traps by 1930th. 2215h - out checking traps on RC with Dan. Clear, calm, low 50's, moon is 3/4 full, overhead, and bright! Dan took lots of pictures of all species we checked traps - hope they come out! Generally good results considering moon. Finished shortly after midnight. April 18 0700th - out checking traps on MC drift fences with Dan. Clear, calm, low 50's. Seeing pictures again, so things are a bit slower than usual. Started checking traps on RC by 0800h. Caught a F P. boylii with a newborn in the trap (see spread). Finished by 1000th - dan went on his way at 1004.
