April 15 (cont) Went out to RC at 1130h to try and find the radio-colla (Ch 12) of 07 125F, and found the signal in a rattlesnake-(see spp acct Crotalus viridis for Crotalus viridus). Unsuccessfully tried to catch it - gave up at 1800 w/out to set traps on GRID RC. Reset MC drift fence traps by 1930h. 2215h- out checking traps on GRID RC. Clear, low 50's, moon is 1/4 full, overhead - bright. Also checked RE cast drift fence. Not many mice after this early tonight. Finished shortly after 2300h. April 16 0648- out checking traps on MC drift fences. Clear, low 50's. Started checking RC traps by 0730h. Not many mice overall, but cought all but 1 resident Rv. Finished by 0915h and went to check on the radioced Crotalus - found it and reused it ! Brought it back in a plastic bucket (see spp acct)- Summary of results on RC- P.californicus 15 Lpm 10 (dm) #ind 5 8 9 P. boylii 7 12 14 W. fusipes 3 4 7 Perognathus 1 4(new) 4 Microtus 0 2(new) 2 TOTAL 16 30(2new) 36 Spent the rest of the morning working on hygrothermographs. Today was partly cloudy (high, thin clouds) and warm (up to 70's) Reset RC traps from 17-1830h and MC drift fence traps by 1900h. Rotated all the max/min thermometers in the process. 2215h - out checking traps on GRID RC. It's overcast (high fog), low 50's, moon is visible through clouds and very bright. Good Rv results this evening. Finished by 2315h. Fog beginning to roll in.
