RIBBLE, D.O. 1987 JOURNAL 43 Hastings Natural History Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Oct. 15. 0310hrs - out for radio-tracking on RC-1. Marco was out this evening from 2100 to 2400hrs (Oct 14). It's clear, cool (low 60's), and the moon is < 1/2 full at about 1:30 in the eastern sky. See Data sheet for record of nights events. Finished at 0630 and moved on to check MC-1 drift fence. 3 captures this morning: 2 Perognathus, 1 P boylii. In the afternoon Marco & drove up to the Arnold Cabin. Reset MC-1 drift fences at 1600hrs. Today was clear, calm, low 80's. 2230hrs - out on RC-1 to radio-track animals. Marco has been here since 2000hrs. It's clear, calm, upper 60's, moon hasn't risen yet. See SpP data for details. Oct 16. At 0100 hrs I set traps at 17 trap stations inorder to get radio-collars back. Got signals from animals once more at 0140hrs before heading in. The moon hasn't risen yet at it is quite cool (low 60's). 0730hrs - Marco went out on RC-1 to check traps and only get collar from #835. 0900hrs - Both of us checked MC-1 drift fences: 1 Perognathus & 1 dead California Thrasher. Marco headed back for Berkeley this a.m. 11030hrs - I set the traps on RC-1 drift lines and about 18 trap stations on the grid to try for the other radio-collars. 1700 hrs - I set traps on MC-1 drift fences. Today was clear, calm, temp in low 90's. 2100hrs - out checking traps on RC-1. Clear & calm. Didn't catch any of the collared animals & not much activity on grid. Note that grid data not recorded since not all traps set.
