Could see RED powder throughout the fallen Madrone east of B(2 - probably where #1079 has her nest. Oct 12 Returned to Hastings with M. Salivoni around 1700 hrs. It's clear, calm, and cool (70's). We set all traps on RC-1 plus drift fence traps from 1745 to 1830 hrs. 2240hrs-out checking traps on RC-1. It's calm, 70's, and driest. No moon or stars visible. Oct 13 By 0030 hrs the clouds cleared and the moon (1/2 full) rose in the eastern skies. Very busy night! Collected tissues from #1452 (young of 835), 1954 (new animal), and 1955 (young of #1079, covered with RED Powder). Also radio-collared #1079 and 835 (which was dusted GREEN). Finished checking all traps by 0120 and returned to the lab to spin blood. 0715 hrs - back on RC-1 checking traps. It's clear, calm, and cool (60's). Went in on nest of #835 and toe-clipped 3 young as follows: # 100 ♀ 9p 99-40-19-11 # 200 ♀ 8.5g 98-40-18-10.5 white tail tip {young of nest #835 # 300 ♀ 9.5g 98-43-19-11.0 All are fully haired, eyes still closed, pinna not completely developed.
