RUBBLE, D.O. 1984 Journal 30 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Aug 9 (cont) Returned to #835 nest at 0930hrs. Caught #1020 ♂ at site. Still getting signal from 2nd nest site. I placed some rolled oats last night in the 2nd nest site and they were gone this morning; so at least she is still alive (?). I'm concerned her collar might get stuck in the tight passageways I spent the afternoon at Tassajara - nice. I reset traps from 1730 to 1630hrs. 2300hrs - Out checking traps on RC-1. Aug 10. Finished checking traps at 0910hrs. Note that #835 was caught without radio-collars 0650 - Back checking traps on RC-1. Calm, cool (11oFos), foggy. Caught ♂ #1420 at 10,11 with green powder visible on ears & glans. 0900 - Caught #835 & young(3)!! #11 12.4g 127-65-23-14 mm ♂ - Eared up red #12 12.7g 132-66-23-14 ♀ #13 11.9 129 62-22-12 ♂ White-fallop { eyes open, visors erupted, moderately mobile } (See species account) I packed up things and headed for Berkeley today to pick-up drift fence materials. Aug 11 Arrived back at Hastings around 1330h. M. Salvioni followed shortly, as did Eric Schneider (new grad student). We spent most of the afternoon cleaning up the Hastings Cabin - Katy left alot of food, gum, etc in the kitchen & frig. We got all of the tools together from Suzanne for the drift fence and carried it to the grid. We set traps from 1800 to 1830hrs. It takes an additional 56 folding shermans to complete the grid. The buckeyes leaves are all brown & withered - Extremely dry!!
