Aug 7 We finished checking traps at 0020 hrs. #835 Q remained on her nest & there was very little activity. We took our time and even stopped for ~30min hoping the activity would pick-up, but nothing improved. 0605- checking traps on RC-1. Clear, calm, high 60's, fog in lower valleys 0712- radio-collared #1928 Q at station 7,15. Dusted collar with red She escaped N, NE of the station. We finished checking traps by 0740 hrs. Summary of Capture Results: this morning P. californicus: 8 captures: (new) P. boylii: 10 " Neotoma fuscipes: 2 " Perognathus: 7 " (2 new) S. trumbidgei: 1 " 28 total captures. * 1230 hrs - Marco radio-tracked #1928 to a willow ~3m southwest of station 5,14. When we poked around at the willow she escaped up through the hollow part of the trunk and stopped ~7 3 m up in the willow. The willow is ~4.5m high, ~150mm dbh. She seemed to have no problem climbing the tree with the radio-collar. After 5min, we backed off and she went back down. I flagged the tree with a marker. We also spent over an hour trying to get to #835 (see app acct.) Marco & I spent the afternoon hashing out some details for the draft and we added 4 stations to the grid (11,15 - 11,18). Hence on Grid MC-1. We reset traps on RC-1 from 1700 to 1730 hrs. Today was clear & cooler (lo 80's). Marco left for Berkeley 2340hrs - out checking traps on RC-1. It's cool (low 70s), calm, moon is > 3/4 full (bugf!') Aug 8 0030 hrs - removed radio-collar from 1928 and dusted her RED Powder. Finished checking traps by 0055 hrs.
