Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif.
July 17 (east) east (2 traps/station; #'s 281-230), and Marcos set his
trapline to the west (2 traps/station, # 221-240). We finished
this by 1545, at which time it started to sprinkle rain lightly
temp: mid 60's).
2115 - out on RC-1 checking traps. It's overcast, mid 60's,
with a slight drizzle occasionally - we finished checking traps
by 2150h. Only 3 animals, not much activity this early! At
station 5, 12, a Skell's Jay was found dead with its head
stuck in trap door. I returned it to the lab freezer.
July 18
0625h - checking traps on RC-1. It's cool (upper 50's), overcast but quickly
burning off, and calm.
