In the afternoon we began by adding 10 stations to MC-1 (east) as follows: 10,18 10,17 10,16 10,15 | 10,14 9 " 9 " 9 " 9 " | 9,14 existing grid 8 " 8 " 8 " 8 " | 8,14 stream 7 " 7 " 7 " 7 " | 7,14 Below this area (here) is dry grassland, | 6,13/14 but there is suitable habitat above | 5,13/14 (to the south) of now 10. We measured the distance necessary for a drift fence. To the east it is 60m from the north side of the creek to just past the fence of Hastings border. 80-90m of drift fence material should suffice - This better fence would be 40m from the edge of the grid (column 10,18 - 7,18). These measures were done with a meter tape & are somewhat (+/-5m) accurate. The west side drift fences should be 60m long (90m of material would be plenty), and it is 72m from the west side of the grid. We reset all traps from 1800 to 1930 hrs. Today was much cooler (low 80s) than previous days, happy to west. In PM, we conducted behavioral trials. See P. californicus spp. acct.
