She recovered from the anesthesia very slowly, and I released her above the Nefama midden at the station. She escaped down a hole above the midden beneath an Bay tree. These are new collars designed by Marco which have use insulated wire as the collar. The 2 end are then hooked over each other, a plastic "Healey" tube is placed over the ends, and locked with a warm knife to bind to the wire. Hole to nest is covered with red powder. It is at the base of an old Buckeye snag about ~1.5m high. The ground around it is covered with moss. This nest would be hard, if not impossible, to excavate for young without destroying.
