This sequence of events occurred several more times in the next 10 min, with 1903 occasionally moving to a corner, or on top of the water bottle. She always responded to 1902's presence by remaining huddled. 1903 continued to explore around the arena. Conclusions from this are as follows: 1) Powder doesn't appear to affect behavior (eg 1902) 2) Powder was transferred in this case adequately to be considered "contact" in the field, 3) Perhaps the Z would interact more if they were previously associated (eg. a breeding pair?). Left around 2300 hrs with protection lifted so they could interact through the night. July 17. 1400hrs. Cleaned out the cage, put female 1903 back into the left side and #1905 (♂) in the right side.
