0550hrs - started checking traps on MC-1. It's clear, calm, low 70's (very comfortable). It begins getting light by 0500, but it's not light enough to work until ~0540hrs. Finished MC-1 by 0640hrs - sun not over hill yet.
Only 8 total captures! Started checking traps on RC-1 at 0658h. Finished
RC-1 at 0820hrs. Sun is up, it's clear and calm. From 1030h to 1600h
I worked on setting up new stations on RC-1. I added [illegible] new
stations as follows:
Some of these, eg. row 3,
are experimental to see if
there are any californicus.
Reset traps on RC-1 from
1610 to 1720hrs. Found # 1078 dead (Cat# 764) at station 5,17 -
apparently it entered the trap during the morning. Reset MC-1 from 1730 to leave.
It was clear and warm today (high in upper 80's)
2310hrs - out on Grid RC-1 checking traps. It's clear, calm, mid 70's. The
moon is >1/4, in the west horizon about 10:30 o'clock. 2325h - dusted #835
[illegible] Red at 7,10. She escaped to NW under downed tree litter.
2355-Dusted #1009 w/ ORANGE at station 5,17. She escaped to NW
under litter. Finished checking traps at 2359h. Not many
animals captured, but I heard a lot of activity. I left
Neotoma in traps with extra food to avoid catching them
again [12:15]. Many traps were closed with no animal - perhaps
a racoon has discovered the grid....
