Caught #1943♀ at station 10,15 and dusted her with Red Powder. Also caught 2 new P.californicus which I returned to the lab to bleed in the AM. Finished by @ 2230 hrs. Much better results this PM - The clouds were beginning to clear when I turned Dec 17. 0720 - out checking traps. It's clear, calm, and cold (heavy frost on cars). Caught a new immature P.californicus at st. 9,10 which looks like it has Red Powder on its feet. Returned it to lab to bleed. Finished checking all traps by 0930 hrs and returned to lab to bleed P.californicus Summary of results this am. P.californicus - 2 captures (1 new) 110 (PM) P.boylia - 4 captures (1 new) 4 (Zanes) M.fuscus - 1 " R.megalotis - 1 " (new) Total - 8 captures I returned all 3 animals to their capture sites before noon. I reset traps on MC this afternoon from 1500 + 1600 hrs, and reset RC drift fence traps around 1630 hrs. This afternoon was mostly clear (a few clouds) and warm 70's 2115 hrs - out checking traps on MC. It's clear and cold (low 40s). The moon isn't out and Hester is incredible. Finished checking all traps by 2215 hrs and headed home Dec 18. 0700 hrs - out checking traps on MC. It's clear, calm, and cold (30s). The moon is about 10°'elode in Easter skies and is just a sliver. Finished checking traps by 0900 hrs and returned to lab to bleed new P.californicus #1135. Examined her in the dark and she is covered with RED powder (ears, mouth, limbs, body). She is undoubtedly from #1943's litter.
