Hasting Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif.
Nov 9 Went into town during the day. From 1400 to 1600 hrs I sunk
coffee cans on the drift fence west of MC-1. It took awhile
to sink all 12 cans because I had to hand dig rocks out.
Reset traps from 1600 to 1645 hrs. I need to replace the
bait on the drift fences because some of it is getting moldy.
Reset RC-1 around 1700hrs. Set a Mcclus trap at station W-3
for the Scapanus (?) that keeps running traps. Today
was warm (upper 70's) and partly cloudy.
2200hrs - out to check newly grid traps on MC-1. It's clear,
calm, low 50's, the moon (< 3/4 field) has just risen
2230 hrs - Relbused #1934 # at 9, 13 with RED powder. She escaped
to base of live oak ~1m south of station. Finished checking traps
by 2250hrs and returned home.
Nov 10. 0700hrs - out checking traps on MC-1. It's clear, breezy, & cold (upper 40's)
Finished checking traps by 0840. Heard Great Horned Owl calling
west of grid RC-1 ~50m.
