The traps are getting very mucky with wet bait - tomorrow I should clear out all traps. 2140 hrs - out checking traps on RC-1. It's lightly overcast, calm, 58°. Finished by 2245 hrs Nov. 5 0630 hrs - out checking traps on MC-1 drift lines. Caught a live Sorex ornatus, first time live seen this here. Finished checking RC-1 by 0900 hrs. This morning was overcast, humd & 58°. No.24 (PM) and Summary of Results: P.californicus: 6 captures 6 8 R.bayii 5 " (2new) $2 8 new Perognathus 7 " (1new) 5 9 R.megalotis — 1 1 N.fuscipes 1 1 1 Microtus 1 — 1 Sorex 1 — 1 Total 21 15 29 The traps are turning into oatmeal mush, so I opened up many of them to dry out. It rained hard at the cabin in Madison Canyon from around 1300 hrs, but apparently not on Rederton Creek. In the afternoon I sunk 10 cans on the drift fence west of RC-1 (5's W-2,W-4,...W-10). Reset traps from 1500 to 1630 hrs. Cleaned out many of the traps. Started to spinkle lightly when I was resetting MC-1 drift lines. Will not check traps tonight. (Full moon tonight). Nov 6 0630 hrs - out checking traps. It's mostly cloudy and cool (48°) On RC-1, caught #1955 at 4,1B cored with fresh RED Powder. Finished checking traps by 0900hrs. Returned to lab to bleed #1916 and stuff mortalities.
