RUBBLE, D.O. 1987 Journal 47 Lastings Natural History Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. Oct. 21 0700us - out checking traps on MC-1 drift lines. No sooner, few scattered clouds, and cool (mid 60's). On Grid RC-1, station Cat No. 793 5,17 had a load of S.trowbridgei (5.5g). Caught a few S.lakimius at 5,13. I didn't mark it, but did handle it - Amazing animal! Caught # 835 at 6,10 and rec'd her while I checked the nest for the babies. The bank covering the nest entrance was on the ground and there were no young. The grass nest was obviously not maintained. When I released # 835 she took immediate refuge in the nest Meadow. But, after ~ 4 min she darted out to the cleared levee oak 5m to the east and down towards the stream bank between 6,10 & 6,11. Also, note that #1020F was caught at 4,13 this AM.
