June 11. 1853 Off Cape Henry I fish were found by him in similar situations, (under large medusae) off the coast of Europe during a voyage to St Petersburg. I also obtained a few specimens of "ice balls" which were mutilated specimens of an apparently new genus of medusae allied to Rhacostoma (see drawing).
