Wednesday February 12, 1914. We had a slow day with drifting snow. There was an oscillation of a semi [Regular] but it turned out too cloudy for any results. Everyone has been sick from the fumes giving off by the engine. There is no way to ventilate the engine room and the house is saturated with the gas that leaks from the exhaust pipe connections. Ah! To be finished my hare skin stock- ing. I shall be interested to see if they are warmer than the sheepskin. Thursday Jan. 15-1914 Last night the weather cleared suddenly about eleven P.M. Joe & I have been two days for several days I just got away had a maying and got underway at once to one of the southern settlements. Joe is going down to make the best arrangements for the men who will accompany us on the long trip. I am using all my ingenuity this day in working out ideas on my clothes, every man can help his own outfit by thought in ways that even the nation could not suggest for the simple reason that we are white and superior.
