Saint Johns & Battle Harbor
Saturday Aug. 2 - '13
The good weather holds - today we
sighted a whale and many porpoises - good
company, 'tis said and sure of finding it
but I doubt. All hatterucks were all headed
south today; perhaps it is getting cold further
north. This morning another beautiful mirage
appeared. One in very floated well above the
horizon, its true self lying below us & right
over our mast acting up drill and terribly
got supper. Without any exercise we soon
get out of breath, eyes twisted his able slightly.
Aurora tonight. Aton of twinkling stars
cloud well above northern horizon!
Sunday Aug. 31 '13.
Battle Harbor.
We arrived at 5:20 am. All I in world
came down glad to turn it over on our coves
stowed in the big were hawse - it was surely a
fine old as the kind of the sharp - but the
mission station seemed to forbid it by its very presence
and we decided it might be better to wait until
the time were so precious.
In the afternoon after 2 tanks & I went up on the
hill and took a bath in one of the cold fresh
water ponds among the reeds. On the evening we
