- FOREVER 237 Tuesday December 29 - 1914 Clear with variable winds. -12° The out doors was very beautiful today. The full moon was higher than the sun ever gets and there was no cloud or any wind to disturb the beauty of it all. We usually lie down for a little while after dinner. For the past few days I have ofen to sleep at this time and then have lain like dead for half the night. I believe that working in the wind makes one more sleepy than usual. I am not doing very much studying these days, as down as our house was once this morning I went in to Etak for some pieces of canvas a stove (oil) etc. Hal returned with me, just before we reached the Island we met Jerome on his way in for the doctor's help. His visicles are a little out of order. I took the pieces of canvas and the tent over to the snow house and fixed it up like a palace - Indeed and it was beautiful with this lighting - an open stove reflecting against its white walls and roof. The luxury that one can get out of a snow knife and a few bits of skin is almost incredible. I am at least amusing myself with this gloo. business. And that is the greatest thing a man can do under such conditions as we have in our little bomb of a house. But the light is coming!
