226 Friday December 18-19 '14 Clean, calm and cold. high - 31.5° Altho the temperature was low today we have been warm- er than almost any other time this fall. When the wind falls the difference in our comfort is unbelievable. This fact led me to get some snow blocks this morning and bank up the back of the house where the NE winds sneek in thru a number of creels. I also worked on both sides filling in and closing up holes. We charged the batteries this afternoon when the sun was over Toronto threw water on the snow blocks in order to form an outside layer of ice which will wear well in the wind. This evening Tank came out followed shortly afterwards by Jane and her pudding shop. I took the last two out to see my snow house. The stove ever then has smoked the inside of it is too perfectly black. This makes it seem much smaller and I felt that she it must have charms. I am afraid that my work doesn't look so charming to the others as it does to me. And that may well be since they have no idea of the number of times the walls fell in. I have picked a spot for another Darger if lost out on the ice. I intend to build it where we come out after the celebration next week. Early in the month I looked forward with some dread to these two weeks just ending because they were so dark and without anything to break the monotony and here they are about over! This is a great institution, the Joy Forever. The winter would have been pretty dull without it.
