492 Norman cut my hair and trimmed my beard for me this morning. Last time before taking the trail (I hope). I look the picture of my father, as I recall his appearance at my age. He was then living in Minneapolis. Annual meeting and dinner of the X M. Y. Academy of Sciences was held this evening, no doubt, just the same as if I had been on hand to attend it. The world goes on without us all right. 21 December. Tuesday, Clear, cloudless, calm. A wonderful day. Temp. min -13°; 9a. -10°; noon -15°; 5p. -16½°; 8p. -17½° Ekblaw and I took a five mile walk out the north side of the bay. The mountains were beautiful under the brilliant light of the full moon, but we cannot perceive that the moon is any brighter here than it is in America, EK
