Late in after- noon lengthened chain and lay alongside the bluff, to which we moored the vessel. 24 IX - 3 Sailed to head of Par-ker Snow Bay and anchored. 25 0 At anchor in P.S.B. 26 0 Do. 27 0 Attempted to go out + examine ice. Crank shaft broke after en- gine had run 10 min:. Returned to anchorage - 28 0 East wind after 3 h.m., too late to try even for North Star Bay today
