14 clear sky, wind still
N.E. & cloudy. Birds sing
well, thunder was ter, [illegible]
don't know how.
15 A beautiful day. Glass 38
rather hazy, very clear,
& warm weather the air full of sounds & smells of
spring. I heard a grasshopper
& sparrow. He is not quite so early as some, but his big
last longer, as he sings all
summer when others are silent.
I often enliven a summer
night with a sudden start of song
The far garrow is either scared
cr I have not been in his haunt,
as I have seen him yes.
Swallows are more plentiful
than last year, but not quite so
many, Bluebirds much more
numerous,
