107/5 - 11 July, 1969 Block 34, Hormand Range Station, about 70 km. east of Tehran. Gravelly clay soil overlying lime stone, outwash plain at foot of Elburz Mts, about 1900 meters elev. Flowers mostly 25-40 to a head, ochroleucous, after ninth lavender-purple anthers. Involutural bracts about 50-70 to a head. Achenes angular- -roughened, dentate at the summit, and with a pappus of coarse, deciduous bristles. Cousinia squarrosa Boiss. det. K.H. Rechinger Cousinia (5)
