Explanation of the Index Following the list of genera with their sheet numbers, the species are arranged alphabetically, preceded by their sheet numbers and number of speci- mens, and followed by the genus under which they are filed. Underlined species names include specimens which are judged, merely by the labels, to be in the category of "types." Starred names include authentically named specimens, almost always from the herbarium of the author. Quotation marks are used for names which have apparently remained unpublished.
