Husted, Dayle 1964 37 the other had a forked tail. Undoubtedly I have misnamed some of these birds. Almost all the birds that were not in the flock were headed South. Position: 22° 29' N 162° 08' W August 23--We are headed back toward Honolulu. Observations were cut short at 1200 tc help clean up the ship. We are in port at 1610. August 24--Spent day at Elys skinning birds. August 25--Spent day at Ely's skinning birds. August 26--Spent day at Ely's skinning birds. August 27--Spent part of day at Ely's working on a report. This afternoon we went out and picked up the boys off the Shearwater. August 28 --Worked on my report at the hotel. August 29--Ran around with the boys from the Shearwater. August 30--Spent the day dicking off. August 31--Spent the day getting things ready to go on the Cromwell. Also paid an outrageous hotel bill of $68.75 or such. Had to have Jan Ely cash a hundred buck check for me. September 1--Roger Clapp and I boarded the Cromwell at 0740. We left for Pearl about 0840. We headed for sea and began observations at 1330. Roger didn't feel too good this afternoon so I did most of the watching. Fewer Bulwer's Petrels were seen than last time. No Dark-rumped Petrel or Bonin Island Petrel were seen. All of the Red-footed Boobies seen were in good color (all appeared to have adult doloring. No Sooty Terns were seen. Six flocks were seen, composed mainly of Wedgetails, Common Noddies and Boobies. September 2--The sea was fairly rough today, and the tub was taking quite a few 45°+ rolls. Roger was feeling somewhat better, at least he ate
