We were about 45 minutes late, because a bunch of important looking men (in white coveralls) were sitting around smoking cigarettes and looking at the nose wheel of our airplane. We landed in Kauai at about 1120. We rented a VW and then went to the Booby colony at Kilauea lighthouse.After looking over the situation we banded 138 Red-footed Booby chicks. Five were too young to bird, 15 - 20 were already flying, and 40-50 were increased. We finished banding about 1900 and then headed for an appartment in Honolulu. Also, the Coast Guard boys told us about a Bulwer's Petrel, we found and we banded; she was sitting on an egg.
