Medison Park Ranch
June 28 - July 4, 1980 (cont.)
Our friends from Texas came in on Tuesday - Charlie,
Sandy, Harry, and two new ones - Brooks and John. This
year Lorenzo didn't make it. Dazzie came in too on Sunday
afternoon and held court with drinks at dinner, making
the place feel more like home.
Dave and Ruth Hodge were there Sunday evening for dinner,
and so also were Charlie, Nina and Joey - down from
Bozeman where they had come to attend a wedding.
That was a gala occasion for me and a great dinner
party.
Back to the trout, Charlie continued to catch jerk abut
none of the rest of us could do much. He fished dry
entirely with quite large flies - #12 in dark brown,
or Mach brown. I did poorly trying to match the hatch
of may flys but scored now on a fairly large (#14)
Royal Wolly.
A cow moose joined us one evening at the pond. He
saw deer several times and one day a weasel in a log
pile where lodgepole killed by bark beetle had been
piled for winter burning. No sign of elk hereabouts.
One of the kitchen girls (Pandy) claims to have seen
a grizzly sow with two cubs a mile south of the ranch
buildings.
My park note paper was lost in my bag, hence there
scant notes. Flew out July 4.
