6 cock sprige 4 Valace pheasante Srenson Dec 30,1978 Sunday afternoon we had a nice pheasant hunt at the "hot corner" and along the road headed west. When we shot at hot corn about 40 birds rolled out and headed west along the road. Jed dashed down in his pick-up and headed part of them and he ended up with 9 birds. The fields were stiff with ducks and we went out Saturday PM with high expectations which were not disappointed. All of us took limits of sprige ad mallards, and young Justin Desgardien had 5 birds, including two greenheads. It was a picture day. Ducks by the thousands were feeding in the corn fields west of our yard (also southwest and northwest) and we had continuous shooting of birds coming to the water to clean their bills as gut. Again today there were seeds of mallards ad I turned down a dozen or more close shots to stay with cock sprige. I took my self-imposed limit of 5, but one was a bit shining so I took an additional fat one. Quite a few geese around at daylight including brockere, sparc and snows. I had only one close shot, at a single snow, and turned it down. Some sprig counting parties but not so many as I saw at Isle Gore last week. All ducks were full of corn and mud, many with gobs of mud stuck to their feet as little. Several had long strings of grain or corn shucks stuck to their feet and trailing behind in flight.
