Huber LN. 1964 Journal Nov 20 AT 5:30 Out of 6 turtles eggs I incubated (by light) 4 hatched. One died about 2 days before hatching the other about a week. I put these into fresh water right away. Today I put one into saltwater because all four do not seem to be feeding well. Maybe what I heard about putting the turtles right out of the egg into fresh water is wrong? I noticed when they hatched the broke open the eggshell and crawled half way out and then stopped and waited many hours (but not over 12) for the rest of the yolk to be absorbed, and when the yolk was almost absorbed they crawled out and tried to escape. The size of protubrance on eggs abdomens were yolk is absorbed, after leaving egg. This is gone in not over 24 hours. Nov 22 at 6:30 I seem (out of 5 clean seen) that Pacific pigeons like to perch in coconut trees about have way out on a horizontal leave (branch, limb etc). The tree has always been at the edge of a large group of trees. I have never seen them sitting deep in the forest. Although I have seen one flying through a forest (about 20 ft of ground).
