Journal Huber LN 1964 Sept 29 Honolulu Hawaii Everything is great. Sept 30 Honolulu Hawaii Ran myself to the ground getting things ready for Mars trip. But.... everything is still great. Oct 1 Honolulu - AT SEA Left and went AND are going Oct 2. AT SEA Still going. Saw a little bird - Sooty shearwater Saw a W.T.S. sitting on the water preening and washing itself. also saw two Gnoddies sitting on the water. They (Waddies) were riding at normal height on water and when they took off their feathers didn't look wet or matted. They had no trouble rising off the water. Since there wasn't four waddies in the air and I didn't see any land in the water the two that were in the water must have been there at least 4 full minutes (if not much longer) before we scared them. Would have been interesting to stop the ship and watch how long they would sit in the water. Oct 3 AT SEA Saw a pale - footed Shearwater today - & like bird. Also saw a Cook's Petrel feed. No went between two swells as they usually do but while he was halfway through the trough he seem to see something, broke his glide and plummeted head first
