Journal
given to the captain so that we get
better cooperation and thus more birds.
The only ship that is any good
for collecting is the shearwater and it
is far from perfect.
Oh well so goes one nights pondering.
March 21 at sun.
Somehow I feel guilty for not writing in my
journal. So here I am again. Should write
about the Sooty Shearwaters that are coming
by but everybody else is. So in my loyal
effort to prevent duplication I won't
write about Sooty Sears. Right now I
feel like running off to wake with a fifty
tousand birds and hoping everybody would
forget I was alive. But that won't do
either. I'd get bored after the first 20 or so.
Nine darn, two months of an ATF trip, 16
hours from port and I am not happy to be
getting back. I should be happy.
Arrgh! Why must man be dammed with a
mind. The other animals lives are so simple.
Out of sight out of mind for them. When danger
passed they forget about it. It is past;
it no longer concerns them. When they are
hungry they eat and no more thoughts afford.
They live each day as it comes. But with a
mind that thinks. Each day has worries
and frustrations. Not only of that day but
days past and future. Out of sight still in mind.
