Journal Feb 25 at sea I got up about 3 way and started worrying about getting back down. But it seems very certain there is nothing but Bluegrays Fairgland G. Wods on it. About 18-5 reef herons roosted on it the evening I went out to collected at the island (About A 1/2 mile of [illegible] toward airport). Got 5 bluigraj and a reef Heron. All the herons out there seemed to be dark phase. Went to a bat cave while there and shot 9 bats but was only able to retrieve 2. Cave is about 30' deep x 35' tall x 40' wide. Thick plants at mouth of cave and [illegible] shot bats were difficult to find even when they fell at my feet. Caught two young ones that dropped from parents and shot a Fairy term there. They are very small bats (smaller than American Brown bat and larger than The eastern pipistile type.) Feb 27 Fakrolo Atoll Had a great meal tonight. We skinned 5 frigates / body [illegible] and a eulaw. The natives cooked them in their Polasesin way and I got the eulaw. It tasted great. Also had Coconut Crap, sugarcane coconut pulp, meat and water. meal tasted great. body does not taste bad but frigates ain't so good
