Otahis 1960 Journal Dec.17 piano concerto on tape + a few shorter piece from records in the service building. Dec.12 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. Made a round of shenry in fore morning, from 10 to 12 approximately, after lunch I cut up fencing wire. Found that it was 30 inch width so made 15" joining strips of it. I watched in the shenry for 2 hours in the afternoon. In evening developed a roll of black- white film, saw "Carmen Jones" at the local cinema, and afterwards writing my notes [illegible] morning was sunny, clear but after noon it became partly cloudy + in the evening late it began to snow. John Baron, the mechanic on the base, a man of 57 or so had a mild heart attack at noon in the mess hall. I was not present at the time + did not hear about it until yesterday. The attack is a mild one & according to Colin Bailey is usually referred to as a "Coronary embarrassment". Chances of recovery are good. Dec13 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. The day was cloudy & gray with
