Makey 1960 Journal mistake and pains with some reality. Nov. 20 Getting Cape Hallett, Antarctica. There was a trip to the snow petals projected for the morning but no one else was up at 8:47 when Samuel at the Bio Lab so I went to work + skeletonized, or rather finished skeletonizing the emperor penguin killed a while back. The camp was thrown off kilter by an incident occurring last night. At 10 P.M. the show was interrupted by an announcement that a plane, the famous last plane, was arriving at 11:30. There was mad packing + scrambling as there are 8 people here waiting for the last plane. All were packed & we saw them off for the airstrip at 10:30 or so. Several of us then retired to the mess hall where a few minutes later, communications announced that the plane had turned back. Much disgust. I went to bed, John Baron went out to get the group. They returned by 12:30, had a meal & showed movies until 4:30 A.M. so the camp was not a quiet till 5 A.M. I made a round of the pantry
