14 able, 1960 Journal Nov.16 forming & there was hope that we would soon have communications. Nov.17 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. The morning was spent organizing my notes on the airca next round with Brian yesterday. After lunch I made a round of the airway, writing all of my allotted (5?) 85 nests. Spent the early evening organizing the resilient nests. After the movie, "Crazy Horse," I shinned the last 2 Snow Patrols. A large flight of snow patrols was witnessed in evening & even minutes counts were made of these. The day was warm + mostly clear with a few patches of clouds in the afternoon. We are down to 3 feet of hard + 2 feet of soft ice on the runway. Radio contact was established w/ New Zealand sometime in the evening & we hope to contact McMurdo before morning. Nov.18 Cape Hallett, Antarctica. Made a round of the airway in the morning from 11 AM to 1 PM. After lunch I wrote up the resulting notes & returned to the airway.
