Makey 1960 Pagodroma nivea Dec 8 Eight petrels seen at 5:30 PM flying W. at 100 feet height. Dec.7 D.S.D. reports 50-75 petrels flying high to West at 1:45 AM. this date. Dec 5 35-40 petrels high at 3:30 PM → W. Dec 12 At 10:30 AM Don Penglase saw a large flock of snow petrels, 50-100 birds, our flying around the cape. Mar 6 Three mile trip to petersley today. The party consisted of Brian Ford, Arthur Ford of U.S. & S.T. Mipref. We were transported across the bay by a helicopter from the Edicks and left there for 4 hours. We left there at about 10:15 and were picked up at 2:30 or 2:40 PM. The copter landed us in the saddle behind the precipice N. of the glacier across the bay. Brian & I climbed the precipice from there + worked our way along the top applying down the face in likely places for nets. We also searched on the back-side of the cliff where rocks looked suitable. Results are summarized as follows: 1) Only 2 adult petrels were seen, both flying along cliff 2/3 of way down. 2) More than half of the nests were empty. We looked in quite a few before finding a chick. We saw a total of 6 live
