Mabey 1960 Internal Nov 8 the skin would tear the skin rather than just moving. It would if the skin were lying free. We will give it one more try with the modification. Nov. 9 Hallett Station, Cape Hallett, Antarctica. 7 Emperors penguins were sighted just off camp in the morning. Several of us (Ron Dunglas, Keith Wiri, George Meyers) went out & photographed them. I took both movies and [illegible] plates. We then drove one bird to camp & then sacrificed it. George Meyers wanted the blood and I wanted the carcass for a skeleton preparation. Immediately after lunch Collin Barley, K.Wiri and myself took a weasel & drove over to the petrol ciff across the bay. The bay off of the camp is covered by rough ice so we took the road to the airstrip which is situated at the inner end of Edisto Bay & cut across to the ciff. From there. The trip was an easy one, the ice at this part of the bay being smooth & only marked by a few drifts. We reached the cliff at a point near where Keith said that Dr. Fells had seen a few birds. Here we spent perhaps 3 hours climbing about. We found a number of nests or occupied cavities & took 14 birds. We went along the cliff
